The Church

Söderfors Church is more than a place of worship – it’s one of the village’s central gathering spaces. Here the people of Söderfors come together for concerts, events, celebrations and community, and the church is one of the driving forces behind Söderforsdagen. This is where we collect what’s happening.

History

Söderfors kyrka was built 1789–1792 from designs by architect Erik Palmstedt and is counted among Sweden’s first churches in neoclassical style. It replaced an older cruciform church that burned down in 1789. The church is a fine example of late Gustavian church architecture and well worth a visit.
