A classic park with both peace and activity
Boulognerskogen is one of the region’s finest parks, located in the western part of Gävle city centre by the Gavleån – just a twenty-minute drive from Söderfors. The park was established in 1885 and remains just as beloved today, with a rating of 4.6 stars from over 600 visitors.
What makes Boulognerskogen special is the blend of natural beauty and thoughtful design. You walk among tall trees, flowering meadows and privet-lined avenues, always with the calm waters of the Gavleån as your backdrop. The park is well maintained without feeling manicured – there’s a natural tranquillity here that many cherish.
For all ages and activities
Whatever you’re after, there’s something here for you:
- Walks and jogging: Well-kept paths that are easy to navigate
- Families with children: Playground and child-friendly spaces
- Sports enthusiasts: Golf, disc golf and running trails
- Food and drink: Seasonal refreshment stand, plus restaurants and cafés nearby
- Picnicking: Cosy benches and spots to linger
Perfect for a quick break or a longer outing
Many appreciate Boulognerskogen as a peaceful pause – perhaps between trains or as a relaxing walk on the way home. But the park is also well worth a longer visit with family or friends. It’s not overly large, so you can easily walk the whole thing in half an hour or settle in and enjoy it for much longer.
Autumn and spring are especially lovely here, when flowers and colours make the park something truly special.
