A national park for everyone
Färnebofjärdens Nationalpark lies in Tärnsjö, just over 40 kilometres northwest of Söderfors, and is one of the region’s most valued nature experiences. The park stretches along Nedre Dalälven and offers everything from easy walks to longer hiking adventures — there’s something for both families and seasoned nature walkers.
What makes it special
The area is known for its rich birdlife and wildlife — moose, fox and lynx are not uncommon to spot or hear about. Forests and wetlands create a varied landscape that shifts with the seasons. Naturum at the main entrance is a good starting point with information and facilities, but many visitors appreciate that there are several entrances with less crowding.
Well-developed barbecue areas line the river, several with fireplaces, windbreaks and wood you saw yourself. There are also tent pitches, bathing beaches and a fine viewing tower. Gravel roads make the area easy to reach even by motorcycle, and parking is free.
