Söderfors Church

Tamms väg 1, 815 75 Söderfors

Söderfors Kyrka

Söderfors Church is one of the village’s most distinctive landmarks and a natural gathering place at the heart of the community – positioned with its main entrance in direct line with Storgatan. Here Söderforsborna come together for concerts, celebrations, ceremonies and events throughout the year.

Together with the parish hall next door, the church is a natural space for fellowship and meetings for all ages – one of the places that holds the village together. See “Coming up” below for what’s happening right now.

History

Söderfors kyrka was built 1789–1792 from designs by architect Erik Palmstedt and is counted among Sweden’s first churches in neoclassical style. It replaced an older cruciform church that burned down in 1789. The church is a fine example of late Gustavian church architecture and well worth a visit.
